Registration Is Open For The Equity Exchange - July 22 - 27, 2018

July 22 – July 27, 2018
John Burroughs School
St. Louis, MO

The Equity Exchange provides an annual forum for experienced educators to raise the level of discussion and action around systemic change for equity and justice in all schools. Led by a professional faculty drawn from across the country,
we convene a small think tank in which everyone teaches and everyone learns.

This year our focus is on
Identifying Problems, Polarities and Possibilities
in Education

A problem is something that can have a right or best answer – a solution can be found.

A polarity  is a dilemma that is unsolvable and contains seemingly opposing ideas – both “sides” can be right and balancing is the ongoing goal. Throughout the week, we will consider:

Structural polarities ~ what are the tensions between public and private education
Institutional polarities ~ what is happening in our school settings
Interpersonal polarities ~ what polarities impact our relationships
Personal polarities ~ what internal polarities influence our ability to function well

During this institute,
the 2018 cohort will

  • Explore Research that informs best practices while testing their value for public and private schools.
  • Advance Principles, ideas and methods that strengthen our ability to champion vital work in our school communities.
  • Construct Practices that can be replicated in our schools and districts, leveraging the wisdom in the room while receiving personal coaching from our facilitators.
  • Extend Relationships and expand our networks. Continue collaborating well beyond the institute week via quarterly “Cohort Connections."

On behalf of the Planning & Facilitation Team, I hope you will consider joining us!
