Calculating Equity | Summer Institute 2027

What does inequity cost us? What does equity require of us?

Schools make calculations every day about resources, opportunity, merit, success, need, fairness, and what we are willing to invest in. Those calculations reflect assumptions about value, deservingness, excellence, scarcity, and possibility. Sometimes they are explicit. Often they are embedded so deeply in policies, traditions, and institutional habits that we stop recognizing them as calculations at all.

At the same time, some of what matters most in educational communities is difficult to quantify: belonging, dignity, agency, trust, voice, relationship, and the experience of being known, valued, treated fairly, and protected.

The Summer Institute launches the 2027 Equity Exchange cohort, creating the foundation for relationships, learning, and practice that continue through Cohort Connection calls across the year.

Think Tank Sessions
These sessions provide a space to consider provocative issues, sketch equity frameworks, test ideas in real time, and refine approaches through collaborative design and peer insight.

Hands-On Practice with Practitioners
Apply frameworks, tools, and protocols alongside experienced practitioners. Leave ready to turn insight into action at your school or organization.

Exchange Pods (Small Group Work)
Engage in small, facilitated groups to dig deeper into your specific context. Build trusting relationships that strengthen your learning and leadership.

Personalized Coaching
Receive one-on-one or small group coaching from experienced facilitants who help you think through goals, challenges, and next steps in your practice.

Community Care Retreat
Sustainability begins with care. Daily sessions focused on self and community well-being are embedded throughout the week, recognizing that sustained practice requires attention to the people doing the work.

The 2027 Institute creates space to examine the assumptions, values, and judgments that shape everyday decisions in schools and organizations. Through collaborative inquiry, practice, coaching, and reflection, participants test ideas, surface what may be missing, and consider how their thinking and practice might shift as evidence, perspectives, and consequences come into view.

2027 Registration

Registration opens November 1, 2026.

Cohort Registration: $1,900

Registration includes all Summer Institute programming and meals, along with participation in Cohort Connection calls throughout the 2027 cohort year.

By design, The Equity Exchange is an intimate cohort of up to 40 educators. All registrations are reviewed before participation is confirmed, helping us create a broad and balanced cohort across schools, districts, organizations, and educational contexts.
